Virginia (Vergie) Ella Patrick Farmer

MOCKSVILLE—Mrs. Virginia (Vergie) Ella Patrick Farmer, 98, of Somerset Court, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022. She was born on August 16, 1923, in Ashe County, to the late Roy Harrison and Virginia Southerland Patrick. She spent her young life in the Little Laurel community near West Jefferson, NC. She moved to Davie County after her marriage to James Franklin Anderson. Vergie was a homemaker, rearing four children who survive her. She was intellectually curious and industrious, enjoying gardening, cooking, canning, sewing, and caring for her family. Church membership and church events were important to her, and she welcomed visitors and many young people into the family home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings; her first husband, Jim Anderson; and her second husband, James Edgar Farmer. Survivors include her children, Penny Shore (Roby), Kae Kamm (Rick), Steven Anderson (Karen), and Terry Anderson (Marcia); six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews; and a host of friends. Much of what is good in us, came from her. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, in Jericho Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered for Jericho Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, 124 Davie Academy Road, Mocksville, NC 27028; Well Care Hospice, 5380 US Hwy 158, Suite 210A, Advance, NC 27006; or to a charity of the donor’s choice. We would like to especially thank Somerset Court Assisted Living and Well Care Hospice for their loving care of our mother in her time of need. Luke 1:45 says, “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her.”
