Thomas Junior Ray

Thomas Junior Ray, 89, of Greensboro, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022 at his home. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 1:00pm until 2:30pm at Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel, 5926 W. Friendly Ave., followed by a 3:00pm graveside service at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N. O’Henry Blvd., Greensboro. Thomas was a commercial roofing contractor for 26 years. He served on the Board of Directors for the National Roofing Association and the board for OSHA. He was a Shriner and attained 32nd Degree Master-Mason status. He was humbled and proud to teach catechism to Masons across the States. Thomas served his country during the Korean era in the United States Marine Corps earning the National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. He served his community building youth camps and participating in Masonic projects. He loved traveling and vacationing with his family. He enjoyed photography, RVing, water skiing, fishing and the ocean. He had a great reverence and respect for planet Earth her plants & creatures. He was devoted to his wife, Arlina, of 67 years and was lovingly known by his family and friends as “Mickey”. He spent time with his family together and each of his children individually, encouraging their interests and individuality. He achieved his lifelong goal of assuring all of his children were well educated. He is survived by his wife Arlina Phillips Ray, daughter, Lisa Boland (Rick) of the home, Donna Ray (Arthur Lynch) of Alvarado, TX, Charles Ray (Susan) of Mt. Vernon, WA, Kathy Ray White of Spartanburg, SC; Grandchildren, Carson Gates, Joshua Ray, Jordan Ray, Benjamin Ray, Steven Ray, McKenzie Ray, Ryan Ray, Rebekah-Ray White Wallington, Thomas White, Kelly Boland, Chris Boland, Kate Boland, six great-grandchildren, Hudson Gates, Hayden Ray, Catlyin Ray, Asher White, and Banks Wallington. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wray & Gertrude Day Wray & siblings, Jerry Haithcock, Everette Haithcock, Mary Bishop, Ella Langley, Thelma Smith & Shirley Botts.
