Shirley Jeffreys Dobbins

September 3, 1940 - April 24, 2022

Shirley Elizabeth Jeffreys Dobbins, 81, passed on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. The funeral service for Mrs. Dobbins will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Forbis & Dick - Stokesdale with Pastor Paul Luttrell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family with all of her heart. She enjoyed traveling to the beach and the mountains with her family and friends. She loved to cook and made the best potato salad and German chocolate cake. Shirley was a consultant and director for Mary Kay Cosmetics for over 30 years and enjoyed the opportunity to drive many pink Cadillacs. Shirley traveled all over the United States attending Mary Kay conventions and workshops. She was a faithful member of Gospel Baptist Church in Greensboro and a charter member of Hope Baptist Church in Sophia, NC. Shirley always had a funny story to share and loved to laugh and talk. She was kind-hearted and was always ready to help others. Shirley participated in the Women’s Health Study at Wake Forest University for the past 30 years helping to make a difference in the health of women. Surviving are her husband of over 62 years, Kenneth Dobbins of the home; children Sandra Dobbins Andrews and her husband Tommy of Concord, Norman Kenneth ‘Ken’ Dobbins, Jr. and his wife June of Reidsville, Cammy Dobbins Booth and her husband Donnie of Oak Ridge and David Ernest Dobbins and his wife Rosa of Sophia; brothers Grady Jeffreys (Eleanor), and Newman Jeffreys (Betty, deceased), sisters, Betty Gaydon (Don, deceased) and Martha Inman (Cecil, deceased); 6 grandchildren Jessica Spainhour (Scott), Ashton D. Lekorchi (Ismail), Kendall Dobbins, Timmy Booth (Lauren), Patrick Booth, Luke Dobbins; 2 great grandchildren Taylor Spainhour and Addison Spainhour. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Forbis & Dick – Stokesdale. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
