Ruby Carol Alley Hill

November 14, 1938 - May 26, 2022

Our family’s beloved sister and aunt Ruby Carol Alley Hill, 83, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the Gibson Hospice House in Reidsville. Carol was born on her family’s tobacco farm in the Bethany Community, Summerfield to John Henry “Hence” Alley and Odessa Tickle Alley. Growing up and working on the family farm inspired Carol to also excel in everything she did in her life. She was Chief Marshal her junior year and graduated from Bethany High School in 1957 with honors. Carol pursued education in many areas after this including Greensboro College’s secretarial school and classes at Rockingham Community College including Spanish, music, genealogy, and horticulture. Carol worked for thirty years at the Blue Bell Corporation and retired from Wells Fargo after twenty years of service. Carol enjoyed collecting books, nature walks, designing gardens and ponds, sharing and talking about her flowers and trees, and was her family’s artist-in-residence. Carol attended art classes for over twenty years and shared her artwork with as many people as she could. Carol painted from her heart, and she created illustrated journals for her family as her way of witnessing and sharing God’s plan of salvation with everyone she loved. Carol was a faithful and lifelong member of Maple Lawn Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught the Women’s Sunday School class for over 40 years. Carol is survived by her sister Patricia Tilley, her brother Jerry (Shirley) Alley, and sister-in-law Audrey Alley; nieces and nephews: Jay (Cathy) Biggs, Jamie Smith, Bobby (Opal) Alley, Dale (Sandy) Alley, Jody Alley, Tammy (Donnie) Tilley, Kristi (Paul) Marshall, Tim (Kathi) Price, Marlon Price, Johnny Ward, Richard Newton, and many great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brother Max Alley, sisters Sarah Lois Alley and Faye Smith, and nephews Jimmy Biggs and Terry Alley. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a tree in memory of Carol or make a memorial donation to Maple Lawn Baptist Church Building Fund, 5401 NC-65, Reidsville, NC 27320. The family will be at the home of Pat Tilley, 131 Alley Farm Road, Summerfield. Services at Maple Lawn Baptist Church, Reidsville, Monday May 30, with Pastor Wesley Byerly and Rev. J.T. Byerly officiating, visitation at 1pm, service at 2pm, interment at Mt. Bethel Church, Stokesdale. Forbis & Dick- Stokesdale is serving the family and all are invited to share memories or offer condolences at www.forbisanddick.com.
