Ronald Lee Smith Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ronald Lee Smith went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 6, 2021. He was born October 25, 1967 in Roanoke, VA to Harold Eugene Smith and Peggy Gregory Smith of Greensboro, NC. Ron graduated from Northeast Guilford High School in 1986 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Accounting from Wake Forest University, where he played football, in 1991. After graduation, Ron began his career in finance at Ernst and Young. He went on to have an 18-year career with Unifi Corporation, including the role of Chief Financial Officer. He was later affiliated with the Newport Board Group, S&N Communications, Smith Consulting and was most recently CFO of Sigma Electric Manufacturing. Ron married the love of his life, Angel Willard, in 1996. They settled in Greensboro to start a life together and raise a family. Ron was a loving husband and father to their three children, Jacob Charleston, Julia Morgan, and James Ethan. Ron was a member of Westover Church and attended faithfully with his family. Ron’s family was his greatest pride and joy. They all shared a passion for both playing and watching sports. The only thing Ron loved more than the Wake Forest Demon Deacons was watching and coaching his own children. He loved coaching youth football and AAU basketball where he made a difference in many young athletes. Ron had a passion for adventure! He loved motorcycles, bungee jumping, and skydiving. Name an extreme sport and he had tried it! Ron most loved snow skiing with his family and treasured the memories made on his family’s annual ski trip out west. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Angel, his son Jake, daughter Julia, and son Ethan, his mother, Peggy Smith, and his brother, Richard Smith (Beth), nephew Jon Smith, niece Alyssa Smith and many extended and loving family members. A memorial service will be held at Westover Church in Greensboro, NC on Sunday, December 12th at 3pm, with visitation to follow.
