Robert Michael Doherty
November 25, 1963 - February 13, 2022
Mr. Robert Michael Doherty, 58, of Greensboro passed away Sunday, February 13 at Beacon Place Hospice after a brief illness. He was born in Hanau Germany to the late Karin Breithecker Doherty and Richard Louis Doherty, Jr. of Charlotte, NC. Robert is survived by the mother of his son, Ginger Doherty, and his son, Ian Michael Doherty, both of Greensboro. Ian was his pride and joy. Robert was raised in Germany where he enjoyed sports, particularly hockey and soccer. He also trained as a chef and worked in many restaurants, most notably with his childhood friend, Maurizio Menna, at Pane e Vino in Wuerzburg. He came to the U.S. permanently in the 1980’s and worked as a chef and server for many years before turning to home improvement sales. He was the eternal salesman! A celebration of life service will be held April 2, 2022 at Muir’s Chapel United Methodist Church at 2:00pm in the Fellowship Hall featuring light snacks and a brief message with scripture reading from Robert’s family. The family would like to thank the staff in the Neuroscience and Rehabilitation units at Moses Cone Hospital – particularly Nurse Tech Mimi and the A&T student nurses – for their exceptional care and compassion while Robert was there. Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Fund at Muir’s Chapel UMC or Beacon Place.
