Phyllis Ann Bartkus Rierson

December 9, 1940 - January 17, 2022

Phyllis Ann Bartkus Rierson, 81, passed away on Monday January 17, 2022 at the Kernersville Medical Center. The family is planning a time to celebrate her life at a later date. A native of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Ann was born on December 9, 1940, the daughter of the late Joseph Bartkus and Edythe Ceconi Bartkus. Following high school, she went on to Nursing School and retired as a Registered Nurse from Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro. She had previously worked in private practice. Ann loved an adventure, sky diving 8 times. On July 27, 1991, she married Jerry Rierson. She especially enjoyed swimming in Belews Lake. Most recently, she and her husband traveled extensively across the country for the NASCAR racing teams of Richard Petty, Richard Childress, and Jack Roush with their show cars. Surviving are her husband, Jerry of the home; daughters Andrea Brunk and her husband, Charlie, of Randleman; Laure Bowen of Ozark, Missouri; Beth Shea of Avon, Indiana; step-son Buddy Rierson and his wife, Misti, of Madison; 6 grandchildren Rebekah Picard, Weston Bowen, Elizabeth Bowen, Cole Bowen, Brittany Echard, and Sarah Rosborough; step-grandchildren Cheyenne, Jade, Mack, Mitch, and great grandchildren Finley and Korra. Last but not least is her Diabetic Service Dog, Woof-Fi. The family extends special appreciation to Ann’s caregivers Patsy Whicker and Kim Knight for the exceptional care and attention shown to Ann over the last two years.
