Peggy Thomas Bouras

April 25, 1933 - April 1, 2021

Peggy Thomas Bouras (born April 25, 1933 in Raleigh, North Carolina) passed away peacefully on Thursday April 1, 2021 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Peggy is survived by her son Pete Bouras, sister Florine Sempeles and brother Evan Thomas. She remembered by her family and loved ones as a strong, independent woman who to give back to her church and community. In the early 1900’s, George and Andromache Thomas immigrated from Greece. They eventually settled in Raleigh, NC where they raised their three children Evan, Peggy and Florine. Peggy was an adventurous child who loved spending time outdoors and playing sports. She went on to receive a Bachelors degree in Physical Education UNC-Greensboro, and then later moved to Miami, Florida where she started teaching. In Miami, she met and fell in love with Johnny Bouras, a firefighter, and were man December 30, 1957. After leaving Miami in the 1960s, they settled in North Carolina and adopted their first son, Pete Bouras, from Athens, Greece in 1963. Eight years later they were blessed with their second son, George Bouras (1971-2006). Along with raising their two sons, Peggy loved outside activities, photography and spending with family and friends. Peggy and Johnny were blessed with two grandchildren, Taylor (1997) and Riley (2000). They loved to spend time with their grandchildren and share their life journey with them. Peggy and Riley shared the same love for photography, and Peggy introduced Taylor and shared a love for New York City where they traveled together. It is important to mention Peggy’s church family and community at Cornerstone Baptist Church, where she was a member for over 20 years. Her fondest memories were teaching a women’s bible study for 14 years, where she made lifelong friends that she considered a part of her family. She will be greatly missed by everyone touched by her kind spirit, and we will be at peace knowing she is resting with God in heaven. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to an animal charity of your choice. Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel is serving the Bouras family. Online condolences mat be offered at www.forbisanddick.com.
