Mary Trent Miles

August 6, 1931 - February 23, 2022

Mary Trent Miles, 90, of Summerfield, passed away on February 23, 2022 at Hospice of Rockingham. A graveside internment service will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Center United Methodist Church, 6142 Lake Brandt Rd., Greensboro, NC 27455. Mary was born on August 6, 1931 in Reidsville, NC to the late John Thomas and Frances Mills Trent. She graduated from Reidsville High School and worked for American Tobacco Co. for 15 years. Mary and her husband, Bill, owned a country store/service station at the corner of Lake Brandt Rd and Hwy 150. She was the bookkeeper for their store as well as for their tobacco farm. She could often be found selling her family’s produce at the Guilford Farmer’s Markets when they were held at J&M Nurseries and the Janice Theater. Mary was an avid bowler in her younger years and loved to play bingo. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Miles; son, John Miles; sisters, Clyde Tester, Ruth Chapmon, Blanche Soyars, Edna Soyars, Lucille Trent, Frances Trent, Polly Arthur, and Nannie King Wall; and brothers, Cotton Trent, Bud Trent, William Trent, and Bobby Trent. Surviving is her son, Rev. William “Alex” Miles (JoAnn); grandchildren, Michael Miles (Lisa), Jennifer Floyd (Adam), Nikki Arquette (Nicholas), Amy Bailey (Jay), and William Miles; great grandchildren, Logan Miles, Olivia Floyd, Liam Moody, Jerry Arquette, and Kallen Arquette; sister, Barbara Boone; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, 2150 NC-65, Reidsville, NC 27320 or Center United Methodist Church, 6142 Lake Brandt Rd., Greensboro, NC 27455.
