Mary Doty Fleischman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Eleanor Doty Fleischman, 97 died peacefully Friday, February 19, 2021 at Wesley Long Hospital. She was born in Champaign, Illinois on July 7,1923 to Lyman Doty and Sarah Jones Doty. After high school she attended nursing school in Illinois and served as a Registered Nurse during WWII. She married a career military man and traveled in Europe and in the United States. She was a devoted mother of 3 girls. She enjoyed gardening, working on genealogy, and loved a good game of Rummy! She also enjoyed puzzles, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin George Fleischman; her son, Barry Robert Fleischman; her sisters, Dorothy Pearson and Emma Lou Thode; her brother, John Doty; and her great-granddaughter Emory Ann Craver. She is survived by her daughters, Debra Johnson and husband Philip of Greensboro, North Carolina; Patricia Pennington and husband James of New Bern, North Carolina; Cathy Gibson and husband Wayne of Colfax, North Carolina; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brother Lester Bruce Stoner and wife Elizabeth of Charleston, Illinois. Private interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery February 23, 2021. A private graveside service will follow at a later date.
