Martha Ann Elizabeth Seats Smith

MOCKSVILLE—Mrs. Martha Ann Elizabeth Seats Smith, 81, of Sheffield Road, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born on October 26, 1940, in Davie County, to the late Clyde Franklin “C.F.” and Adelaide Bowden Seats. Mrs. Smith worked at Hanes Hosiery, Davie County Schools, and 18 years at Davie County Register of Deeds. She was a longtime member of Liberty Wesleyan Church. Mrs. Smith was an excellent seamstress, making clothes for her children when they were younger, and a very good cook and baker, known to have the best yeast rolls and poundcake around. She was a devout Christian lady who will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her family, children, and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Seats; and an infant son, Benjamin Eric Smith. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, John Thomas “J.T.” Smith, Jr.; her children, Mark Smith (Cindy), Gina Smith, Tim Smith (Jenna) Brent Smith (Gina), and Anthony Smith (Ashley); two siblings, Clyde Seats (Shirley) and Jean James (Wayne); and seven grandchildren, Sally Smith, Mallory Smith, Rachel Smith Bogue (Austin), Brooke Smith, Ally Smith, Evan Smith, and Samantha Smith. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2022, at Liberty Wesleyan Church, with Rev. Jimmy Allred and Rev. Rob Garrison officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
