Louise Pinkelton Hofer Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Louise Pinkelton-Hofer beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother of Greensboro passed peacefully on July 29th, 2022, in Charlotte, NC where she had been living the past 9 months. Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at 11:00 o’clock a.m. at First Lutheran Church, 3600 W Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC, 27410. A private interment will be held at Lakeview Memorial Park. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Louise was born on June 19,1932 in Greensboro and was the youngest of six children to the late Arthur and Meta Ward. She graduated from Greensboro High School in 1950 and attended Croft Business school. Louise was employed by Cone Mills Corporation for 47 years and retired in 1997. Louise was an active volunteer in the Greensboro community for many years and she lived her life with a passion for helping others. Volunteering wasn’t something she did, it was WHO she was. She served on the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Commission, Guilford County Crime Stoppers Executive Board, and the American Red Cross. She also served on the board at the Premier Federal Credit Union for many years, as well as the volunteer board at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. She volunteered with Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for over 30 years as well as over 30 years in the Emergency Department at Cone Hospital. Louise truly loved helping others and had tremendous compassion that she generously shared. Louise also spent much of her time volunteering with the Civitan Organization. She was a charter member of Gateway Civitan Club for over 45 years and served as President of the Guilford County Civitan Council. She received the prestigious “grey blazer” after chartering her 6th club and was recognized as a Lifetime Master Club Builder. She was honored with the Club and District Honor Key, as well as being an International Research Center Fellow and a member of the President’s Council. In addition to the Gateway Civitan Club, she was also a member of the Four Seasons Civitan Club along with her husband, Bill. Louise was recognized many times for her lifelong commitment to volunteering. “2 Those who Care Award” and the “National Textile Citizen of the Year” were just a couple of the awards she treasured. She loved that these awards gave her the opportunity to share her passion for volunteering as well as to encourage others to give their time and energy to making this world just a bit better. Preceding her in death were her parents, first husband Norman Pinkelton, daughter Jan Land, grandchildren Chris Walker and Sarah Walker Miranda, brothers Bob Ward, Coolidge Ward, Roy Ward, Clyde Ward and sister Coline Ward Moriarty. Survivors include her husband, Bill Hofer, daughter, Linda Walker and husband Wynn, sons, Charles Pinkelton, and Kelly Pinkelton and wife Shirley; grandchildren, Shana Pinkelton and Scott Pinkelton Brandon Land, Bobby Land and wife Tia; and four great grandchildren, Carter Land, Lucas and Grayson Miranda, and Rayland Land.
