November 22, 1934 - March 30, 2022
Born Carol Judith Wade in Savannah, Georgia, Judy entered into the presence of the Lord on March 30, 2022 at the age of 87. As a child, she moved with her family to Greensboro, North Carolina where she lived the remainder of her life. Judy graduated from Curry High School in 1952. After graduation, she attended Mars Hill College near Asheville, North Carolina. Upon returning to Greensboro, Judy worked as a buyer for Wysong and Miles Company. In 1965, she began working for the Guilford County Schools. Judy served as the secretary for Morehead Elementary School, Foust Elementary School and Vandalia Elementary School. She loved working with the principals, teachers and especially the many children she met over the years. In 1996, after 30 years of service, Judy retired from the School System. On September 6, 1958, she married the love of her life, Ralph D. Wicker. They were married for almost 64 years and had three children. Ever the doting wife, mother and grandmother, Judy loved to brag on her family. She would tell everyone how perfect her children and grandchildren were. Judy delighted in shopping, reading, being with her family, celebrating birthdays at the lake and having large Christmas gatherings. She was a member of Woodlake Baptist Church and enjoyed being an active part of the church community. She loved the lake and the beach, but not the water; she loved to travel, but not fly. She always enjoyed returning to Savannah with the “Savannah 5”, her brother Con, her sister Jerry and her nieces Sheryl and Beth. There, they could reminisce about the days of their youth. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Arlin John Ciscero Wade and Clara VanHorne Wade, as well as her brothers, Arlin John Ciscero Wade, Jr. and Conrad Devereaux Wade. She is survived by her husband, Ralph D. Wicker, and her children, R. David Wicker, Jr. (Susan), Allison Wicker Rogers (Calvin) and Amy Wicker Mathis (Jerimy). She is also survived by her brother, Douglas VanHorne Wade (Shirley), her sister, Jerry Wade Graves, as well as six grandchildren Whitney L. Wicker, Colby D. Wicker (Kayleigh), Lance D. Wicker, Savannah M. Rhinehart (Seth), Aidan C. Mathis and Laura R. Souther (Lee) and two great-grandchildren, Hannah M. Gilchrist and Raymond Lee Souther, IV, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Judy loved her family and they loved her. Although she will be greatly missed, she will be in our hearts forever. The family will receive visitors on Monday, April 4, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Forbis & Dick Funeral Service in Pleasant Garden, NC. There will be a graveside service at Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian, NC beginning at 3:30 pm.
