John Wakelon Morrison Jr. age 86, of Greensboro, passed away February 4, 2022. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday February 13, 2022 at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, 2049 Pleasant Ridge Rd, Greensboro NC 27410. John Morrison was born April 20, 1935 in Greensboro to the late John and Ruby Morrison. John was a running back on Bessemer High School football team that won the State Championship. He went on to work as a machinist with Gilbarco and was active with the local Teamster Union. John attended Buffalo Presbyterian Church and was also a member of the Guilford Wildlife Club. He also enjoyed sports, especially football and baseball, cooking, gardening, and going to the beach and fishing. Mr. Morrison is survived by his son John Morrison III and wife Gina, daughter Kelly Handerhan and wife Shari, and grandchildren Erin Morrison, Nathan Morrison, Daniel Morrison, Ben Handerhan, Max Handerhan and Mandy Janzen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Wendy Hartgreaves, and brothers Richard Morrison, and Gary Morrison.
