John "Barry" Barringer Womble II

February 26, 1941 - April 2, 2022

John (Barry) Barringer Womble II, 81, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022 John was preceded in death by his parents, Marguerite Jackson Phelps and John Barringer Womble I. John is survived by his wife, Sandra Brooks Poe Womble; children, Deborah Brooks Womble, John Barringer Womble III, Jill Jackson Womble Wood, husband Mark; grandchildren, Annie Brooks Woodruff, Christina Brooks Woodruff Litaker, husband Casey, Sarah Wood Knotts, husband Ben, Samuel Barringer Wood, Madeline Dixon Wood, Luke Barringer Womble, and Lydia Jane Womble; and great-grandson Cooper Lee Litaker, as well as two new babies due any day. He is also survived by his brother Mike Womble, wife Joan, brother-in law Lynn Poe, wife Wanda and also several nephews, nieces, and great nephews. John retired from ARAMARK, where he was a leader, mentor, and encourager for many others. He also proudly served his country in the US Navy. John enjoyed sports, especially ACC sports and the Atlanta Braves, golf, working in his immaculate yard. But his greatest joy was spending time with his wife, Sandra, they have been together since they were 16 and 17 years old and have been married more than 60 years. John also loved visiting his children, and most especially, his grandchildren and great-grandson. He was so excited about these two new great-grandchildren coming into this world. Visitation will be at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 7, 2022. Service will follow at 11:00. Burial will be held at Buffalo Jonesboro Cemetery at 2:00 pm that afternoon.
