Grace Williamson "Mrs. Grace" Overton

Grace Williamson “Mrs. Grace” Overton, 90, went home to be with Jesus Thursday, March 10, 2022 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. A 3:00 p.m. funeral service will be held Monday, March 14, 2022, at Browns Summit Baptist Church, 6000 Summit Avenue, Browns Summit, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery. Grace was born January 28, 1932, in Granville County, NC to the late Thomas Peck Williamson and Fannie Jones Williamson. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never met a stranger and loved to talk with others. Known as a wonderful cook, Grace enjoyed cooking for others and making all kinds of Christmas candy. She also enjoyed traveling on bus trips across the country to 49 of 50 states and family vacations at Cherry Grove Beach, SC. She worked for many years at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church daycare as cook and after retiring, she worked a few years at Browns Summit Elementary School cafeteria. She always shared her kind and giving heart and was loved by all as a friend, wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Overton, Sr., as well as brothers, R. C., and Sam Williamson. Survivors include her children, John R. “Johnny” Overton, Jr. and wife, Maria, Ronnie Lee Overton and wife, Michelle, and a daughter, Connie O. Suggs and husband, Randy. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Cody and Lauren Suggs, Michael and Lauren Overton, Chris and Megan Suggs and Kristina and Jim Lincoln, as well as great-grandchildren, Jase, Baylor, Emory, Davis, Bexley and Cameron, who is soon to be born.
