Frances Tippett Harris, 101, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 25, 2021 at her daughter’s residence. She was born on August 3, 1919 as the third of eight children to the late John Ross and Mossie Emma Tippett. She is survived by her daughter Lindy Marley (Fred); her grandchildren Amy Chandler (Edward Page) and Ross Marley (Christina); great grandchildren Brittany Miller (Ryan) and Hannah Chandler, Luke and Parker Marley and Kayla Durham (Tyler); and great-great grandchildren Abigail Page Ewell, Zoey Ann Miller, and Grayson Durham. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Flynn Harris; brothers Charles Tippett (Margaret), Ralph Tippett (Evelyn), and Robert Tippett (Janice); and sisters Virginia Dare Lambeth (Harold), and Margaret Snead (Opie). Frances worked 35 years as an Administrative Assistant in the main office at Cone Mills Corporation, and until her passing, resided in the same mill house where she had lived since she was 9 months old. She was a member of Buffalo Presbyterian Church, where she graced the back, left pew every Sunday that allowed. Frances (Frankie) was the Rock of our family, and she lived a life of sacrifice and love for us all. Her happiness was found in helping our hopes and dreams become reality, and her purpose was to lead us always to the foot of the cross. We are forever grateful for her life. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Allie, Natalie, Darrell, Page, and Hospice of the Piedmont for sharing the last 2 months of Frankie’s life with us and helping to make it a special and meaningful time. We also send loving thoughts to Frankie’s longtime friends Gwen Jones, Joanne and Glenn Chrisco, and Carol Pegram, as well as Mary Sue Waite and all of the loving congregation at Buffalo Presbyterian Church. Please join us in a graveside service April 28, 2021 at 11am at Forest Lawn Cemetery, with the Reverend Jeff Johnsen officiating. Memorials can be made to Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, NC or Hospice of the Piedmont.
