May 1, 1945 - May 10, 2022
Greensboro—Diana (Dian) Jones Hiers, 77 entered eternal rest May 10, 2022, while at Moses Cone hospital. She was born May 01, 1945, in Augusta, GA to the late Omar John and Odell McCamish Jones. She was a Special Education teacher with a passion for helping her students. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church. She was a fierce supporter of family and friends she held close. She loved her family and her God and taught her children to seek Him. She leaned on her God when times were difficult and never gave up. She was one of a kind and will be missed tremendously. She loved and appreciated her family across several states, she was musically and artistically talented, loved her church and friends, and loved to travel. Amazingly, at 77, she still wanted to go to her son’s soccer games. She had a deep appreciation for those that came before her and she freely shared family stories from generations ago. While difficult to sum it up in words, Shel Silverstein’s book The Giving Tree comes to mind. In addition to her parents Diana was preceded in death by her husband Richard Lester Hiers in 2019. She is survived by two sons; Kristian Hiers (Stacy) of Greensboro and Bryan Hiers (Kelly) of Midlothian, VA; five grandchildren Logan Hiers (Ellie) of Charlotte, NC, Trey Hiers (Ravit) of Rahway, NJ, Reagan Hiers (Sam) of Chesterfield, SC, Grayson Hiers, and Caroline Hiers of Midlothian VA; one brother Mac Jones (Linda) of Cross Hill, SC. A service to celebrate Dian’s life will be held 10:00 am Saturday May 28, 2022 at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church, Greensboro, NC. A reception will follow the service at the church. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery for immediate family only. The family requests that memorials be made to Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church, 2600 Pisgah Church Rd, Greensboro, NC 27455 Forbis and Dick Funeral Service North Elm St Chapel is assisting the Hiers Family.
