David Roy Martin

November 17, 1937 - December 9, 2021

McLeansville - David Roy Martin, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, December 9, 2021. He was born November 17, 1937, in Guilford County, NC to the late Brady and Lettie Martin. He attended McLeansville Baptist Church. David retired from Cone Mills in 1998. David loved his family very deeply and had a sweet compassion for others. If you knew him, you were blessed by him and his sweet humble spirit. David was a lover of old cars, working in his yard and playing his guitar. You could have found him most Friday or Saturday nights picking his guitar with friends. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his first-born son David Anthony Martin (Tony). He was also preceded in death by brothers James A. Martin, Kenneth D. Martin, William B. Martin, Joseph L. Martin and sisters Dorothy M. Anderson and Frances M. Cox. Surviving is his loving wife Alma Grace Martin of 64 years, whom he adored. His children, Steven (Janie) Martin, Judy (David) Powers, Sandra York (Jeff Hawkins). David’s grandchildren, Tildon (Katie) Powers, Zachary (Amelia) York, Corina Powers (Matt Spell), Alex York and Ivey-Ann Martin and Great Grandchildren Elijah Brian York and Caleb Royce Powers. Brother Leslie Martin and sisters Helen M. Knight and Mary Alice Knight. The family will receive friends at Midway Baptist Church Church at 1705 Guilford College road, Jamestown NC 27282 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM on Monday December 13, 2021. The service will follow at 3:00 PM. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Countryside Manor in Stokesdale, NC and the nursing staff at Wesley Long Hospital for the wonderful care that was extended to David.
