Clifford Davis

GREENSBORO – Clifford Davis of Greensboro passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at his residence. A Memorial reception will be held at Friends Homes West from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2022, in the Gateway Lounge on the second floor of the Wellness Center. Clifford was born in Dallas Texas and grew up in Carrizo Springs, Texas. As he served in the U.S. Army, he fought and was injured in WWII. Clifford also attended the University of Chicago for his B.A., then he attended Harvard School of Law. He served as a professor at the University of Iowa School of Law before moving to the University of Connecticut where he continued teaching until 1997. His work focused on property, torts, workers compensation and water rights. He was a classical music lover and played the French horn in several orchestras. Clifford is predeceased by his stepson, Dr. Robert Westermann. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothea, daughter, Cynthia Davis Strausbaugh, son, Mitchell Davis, stepdaughter, Dr. Carola Westerman and stepson, Gerold Westermann. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Clifford’s name be made to the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, 200 N. Davie Street, Greensboro, NC 27401. Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel is serving the famiy.
