Dr. Charles Swainbank

September 15, 1943 - March 6, 2022

Dr. Richard C. Swainbank, 78, born in Kendal, England, son of George and Lavinia Swainbank, passed away during the early morning hours of March 6, 2022, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.¨His friends and family knew him simply as Dick and he is survived by his loving wife Sally, his son Geordie, his daughter Susan and her husband Mark. His inspired love of gardening during his retired years reflected many of his virtues; few were as educated, dedicated, duty-bound, and devoted as Dick. His geological background was present throughout his career; the impact he made during his tenure working for the state of Alaska affected thousands of lives and while his kindhearted nature and quick wit will be sorely missed, they will not soon be forgotten. There will be a 2:00 pm memorial service on Sunday March 13, 2022 at Jamestown United Methodist Church.
