Bill Smith passed away peacefully at his home February 9, 2022, 3 weeks after learning he had melanoma. He was adopted with a twin sister Betty from the Children Home Society. His parents were William O. Smith and Dokie Purcell Smith. He grew up in the Glenwood area of Greensboro. He attended Sumner and Greensboro Senior High School. He worked 30 years with City of Greensboro in several departments and retired from Signs and Marking division. He was also owner and operator of Smith Striping Service for over 60 years. His greatest love was working and painting parking lots up until his death. Bill is preceded in death by his twin sister Betty at 60, parents and daughter, Kelly Smith Hicks. Bill is survived by his loving wife Nancy Brown Smith of 37 years. They shared a happy loving marriage traveling, shopping for his lamps and just having fun together. Other survivors include children Mark Smith (Linda); David Smith (Robin); Kim Willard (Jimmy);Angie Becker (Mike);Amy Dillon (Mike). Grandchildren, Emily, Jake, Zach, Daniel, Brooke, Amber, Amanda, Christopher, Ethan, Heather and Ashley. Great Grandchildren, Christian, Caitlin, Cayla and Gabby. A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at Forbis & Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Guilford Memorial Park.
