March 8, 1931 - June 3, 2021
Betty Jean (Jeannie) Dyar Brabham, age 90, of Greensboro went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital. Betty was born in South Carolina on March 8, 1931 to the late Rev. and Mrs. JC Dyar, she was the oldest daughter of four. Raised in the Baptist church with her family, Jeannie spent most of her time doing what she loved most, including piano, and singing in the choir during service for her father’s church. In her free time, she participated in women’s basketball (both playing and coaching) and was an overall athlete. She competed in, and won, many beauty competitions including “Miss Anderson”, all while holding a substantial modeling career. She later graduated from Anderson College (University) in Anderson, SC. Upon graduation, Jeannie Dyar went on to meet the love of her life, Carl Brabham. They wed in August 1954 in Anderson S.C with her father presiding over the ceremony. They raised two children and shared many life experiences: including Clemson football games, beach trips, and devoting family values through her faith in the Lord. Even through multiple moves for her husband’s career, she maintained a long-lasting profession with Mary Kay Cosmetics as a Senior Sales Director. She was even trained by the late Mary Kay herself. Residing for the last 44 years in Greensboro, NC, Jeannie loved her house on the lake. She was an avid nature-lover, where she found joy immersed in her garden, and watching the Hydrangeas bloom. Jeannie’s greatest love was her family and hosting large gatherings on holidays and special occasions. She was known for capturing family moments and creating mementos to last a lifetime. She is preceded in death by brother Doug and sister Gloria. She is survived by Carl Brabham, husband of 67 years; and her two sons, Gregg Brabham and wife Gwynn, Jay Brabham and wife Amanda; youngest sister Patricia; grandchildren Nick (wife Tam), Kevin (wife Leah), Neil, Kristen, Kellie (husband Jared), and Katy; great-grandchildren, Yates, Matthew, Turner, and Tyler; and additional extended family. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 7, 2021 at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M., visitation will be at 1:00 P.M.
