Barbara Virginia Burton Brady, known by many as Bobbie, was a loving wife, mother, and granny. She passed away peacefully on December 28, 2021 in her home with family by her side. Barbara lived her life serving the Lord, her family and others. Her family is at peace knowing she is in the arms of Jesus. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 15, 2022 at 2:00pm at Newlyn Street United Methodist Church. Visitation will be prior to the service, 1:00 -1:45. Barbara Brady was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on November 7,1936. She attended Greensboro High School. Barbara met the love of her life James O. Brady (Mutt) February 1953 and were the first couple married at the newly reconstructed Newlyn Street United Methodist Church on November 25,1953. The couple happily celebrated 68 wonderful years of marriage this past November. Barbara’s sweet spirit drifted easily and naturally into the lives of those she encountered throughout her entire life. Her contagious joy and loving commitment to others was treasured by her husband, family, friends, and church family. Barbara served the Lord as an active member of Newlyn Street United Methodist Church. Her faithful and tireless service for her church was evident by her roles as Sunday school teacher, dedicated member of the Fellowship Sunday school class and the United Methodist Women. She became known as the “Pie Princess” for the renown “fried apple pies” she helped make at church. Barbara will always be remembered for her homemade baking of M&M Cookies, Pound Cakes, birthday cakes and wedding cakes. Her love of gospel music, especially that of Elvis, was shared enthusiastically. Her kindness and inclusiveness brought warmth and comfort to those who were blessed to know her. The heart and service of an unforgettable servant leaves a sweet fragrance that will linger for a lifetime...Barbara’s Fragrance. Barbara is survived by her husband of 68 years James O. Brady Sr. (Mutt) daughters Sandra Brady Phillips (Randy) Myrtle Beach, SC; Vickie Brady Page (Rick); Donna Brady Mobley and son James O. Brady Jr. (Jim) (Elizabeth). She had 5 grandchildren whom she adored with all her heart, Craig Phillips (Michelle), Stephanie Phillips, Matthew Page, Justin Mobley Denver, Co.; and Emily Mobley, and one great grandchild, Bree Phillips. Also surviving is her sweet sister Betty Burton Bluster (Jack) of Atlanta Georgia; and sister-in-law, Becky Burton. Barbara was blessed with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Arthur and Freda Burton, beloved brother and sister, Benny Burton and Joyce Chandler. Memorials can be made to Newlyn Street United Methodist Church, 212 East Newlyn Street, Greensboro, NC 27405. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks for your many prayers, food, cards, phone calls and your love.
