Facilities & Directions

Forbis and Dick Funeral Service was founded in 1957 by A. Lee Forbis and George P. Dick, after having served the citizens of Greensboro and Guilford County since 1936 at Forbis and Murray Funeral Home. The Forbis and the Dick families are well known to the citizens of Guilford County. The ancestors of both families are from the McLeansville community and go back to the 1700′s. Many things have changed since our founding. Funeral home ambulance service is no more. Our facility has been enlarged and remolded many times to accommodate the needs of the ever increasing number of families that are calling on us to help them through the most difficult time of their lives. In 1981, Mr. Forbis passed away, and his son John, former Mayor of Greensboro became president of our firm. Mr. Dick passed away in 1985. In 1998, John was named CEO of our company. Patrick Forbis, John’s son became President of the company. We have assembled one of the most professional and dedicated staffs in North Carolina. Many of our employees are Greensboro natives and are deeply rooted to the community. Many of our staff members have been with us for over 25 years. Although there have been many changes in the company, our commitment and our passion remain the same; to meet the needs of our community with professionalism, care and compassion. As many funeral homes in our area have been acquired by out-of-state, publicly traded companies, Forbis and Dick is pledged to remain family owned. We believe that this commitment uniquely positions us to continue the legacy of our founders; to meet needs and serve the community.
