Andrew Jon VaronGreensboro: Mr. Andrew Jon Varon, 64, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Moses Cone Hospital.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Wednesday, July 28 at Forbis & Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel. Mr. Varon was born in Miami, Florida on December 21, 1945. He was a graduate of Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC and retired after 30 years of service from Ford Motor Company. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and traveling with Dian to Myrtle Beach and Las Vegas. He loved to work in his workshop on any type of project, including crafting all sorts of fountains. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Andy appreciated his wonderful wit and mind. He fought a long battle and was a testament to others of how one should live and how to die. Andy was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather and brother. Mr. Varon was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Reba Mendelson Varon. He is survived by his wife, Dian Jones Baynes Varon; daughter, Allison Hubbell and husband Bryan of Raleigh; step-son, Phillip Baynes of Greensboro; sister, Helaine Grassgreen and husband Richard of Florida; brother, Craig Varon and wife Muriel of Georgia; grandchildren, Noah Hubbell and Gage Baynes: many loving nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Deterding and Carolina Kidney, as well as friends at the dialysis center especially, Dee and Sarah; also to Moses Cone Hospital staff on the 4th and 6th floors, especially, Lolly and Susan and to Dr. Gustav Magrinat. The family also wishes to thank all the family and friends for all their love, support and encouragement. The family will receive friends following the service on Wednesday.
