Mr. Isaiah K. "Pete" HuffmanGreensboro – Isaiah Kempster Huffman, Sr. age 84, died Friday, July 23, 2010 at Beacon Place.Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Buffalo Presbyterian Church. Reverend Jesse Bledsoe and Revered Edsel Huffstedler will be officiating. Military and Masonic Graveside Rites will follow at Westminster Gardens. Pete was born August 10, 1925 in Rocky Mount, NC to the late Carl S. Huffman and Letha Philyaw Huffman. Pete was a member and Elder of Buffalo Presbyterian Church since 1965. He served on many church committees. Pete was a Captain in the US Army as a Missile Officer Commander. He retired from the US Army after serving 21 years. Pete was the former President of the Greensboro Chapter of POWS. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of Revolution Lodge 552, The Scottish Rite and the Shriners. Member of the National Ex Prisoners of War, member of The American Defenders of Bataan & Corregidor Society. Pete is survived by his wife Rosa Lee Weathersbee Huffman of the home. Daughter, Pat Miller of Greensboro. Son, Isaiah “Mike” Huffman, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Greensboro. Grandchildren; Drew Miller, Ian Miller, Austin Huffman and Alex Huffman. Visitation will be held 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 803 16th Street, Greensboro, NC 27403 or Oxford Orphanage at 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
