Mrs. Olivia Stanley LindleyOlivia Stanley LindleyMrs. Lindley passed away very quietly in the home of her daughter on the morning of July 22, 2010. Mrs. Lindley arrived in this world at Spring Grove, Va. on October 13, 1921. Her parents were Joseph C. and Nellie V. Edwards. A few months after her birth, she and her family returned to the Greensboro area, where she lived until her death. In 1938, she was married to R.L. Stanley. They remained married for over 50 years until his death. Later she married William H. “Bill” Lindley and they remained married until his death. Mrs. Lindley was very involved in managing the office of the electrical contracting business of Mr. Stanley as well as caring for her children for many years. She remained involved in her church until her death. She is survived by two sons, Joe Stanley, Sr., and David Stanley; four daughters, Sara Joyce “Joy” Walsh, Rebecca Ann “Becky” Hodges, Susan Simpson and Donna Antico; step-son, David Lindley; step-daughter; Martha Allegro. In addition, she is survived by sixteen grandchildren, Joe Stanley, Jr., Richard Hodges, Edwin Hodges, Chad Hodges, Rob Zelenak, Byron Zelenak, Joe Level, Jesse Lindley, Sally Kostielney, Ellen Brower, Amanda Housley, Lori Cairnes, Michelle Hollenbeck, Jennifer Spears, Jessica Essig and Raven Cowles and twenty-five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lindley had a brother, Marvin E. Edwards, Sr. and a sister, Edith Kye. Both of whom pre-deceased her. In addition there are many nieces, nephews and friends who considered her as “Mother”. Mrs. Lindley was a member of the Greensboro Seventh-Day Adventist Church for more than 70 years. She lived through a period known as “The Great Depression”, as well as World War II. Both were times of sadness as well as friends and neighbors being helpful to one another. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, July 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel. The funeral sevice will be held on Sunday evening, July 25, at 7:00pm at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel and will be conducted by Elder Gary Moyer, a former pastor. A private committal service for the family will take place at a later date at Westminster Gardens. Contributions may be made to Greensboro Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 1320 Fleming Rd.
