Sarah Davis Friddle

Mrs. Sarah Davis Friddle, 71, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday July 20, 2010.

Mrs. Friddle’s funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at First Baptist Church of Summerfield with Dr. Richard Odom and Rev. Roger Barricks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A Rockingham County native, Mrs. Friddle was born on November 29, 1938, the daughter of the late Claude Wilson and Beatrice Cook Davis. Known for her kindness and sacrificing in order to put others first, Mrs. Friddle was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Summerfield. She was a former Sunday School teacher, involved with the History Committee and church library, and also enjoyed participating in the senior ministry trips. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing. On May 2, 1959, she married J. Van Friddle.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Van, of the home, sons Jeffrey Friddle and Mark Friddle, and his wife, Tracie, all of Summerfield, two brothers James (Jim) Davis of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Mike Davis of Daytona Beach, Florida, several nieces and nephews, and her canine companion, Ernie, whom she loved dearly. Preceding her in death was a brother, Richard Davis.

The family will receive friends this evening, Friday, from 7 until 9 p.m. at Forbis & Dick Brooke Chapel, and other times at the home.
