Mrs. Dorothy Poplin RummageMrs. Dorothy Poplin Rummage, 89, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at White Stone Nursing Home, after several years of declining health with Parkinson’s.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park with Rev. Mike Barrett officiating. Mrs. Rummage was born on November 17, 1920 in Stanley County. She was a machine operator for Lorillard. Dorothy was a member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church, Thankful Hearts Sunday school class and sang in the Senior Choir. She was the eleventh of twelve children and also had three half sisters and one half brother. Dorothy enjoyed quilting, crocheting and gardening, especially her roses. She was preceded in death by husband Jay Rummage, and parents, George and Nellie Thompson Poplin. Survivors include son, Larry Wayne Rummage and wife Pat of Pleasant Garden; daughter, Deborah Black and husband Gilbert of Liberty; sister, Lois Poplin of Norwood, Athea Marshall of Archdale; grandchildren, Tamra Dick, Shanon Heldreth, Erica Harder, Angela B. Smith, Loren Black; step-grandchildren, Chad York and Keith Smith; eight great-grandchildren including the upcoming birth of another great-grandchild in November, and three step-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home, Pleasant Garden Chapel, and other times at the home of Larry and Pat Rummage.
